Kabul and Ghazni Project, UNICEF – Community-Based Education HPD

The project aims at increasing access to education and improving quality of learning for 18,000 emergency-affected girls and boys in 5 districts of Kabul and 8 districts of Ghazni through following activities: a) deliver CBE through establishing 480 CBS and 120 ALC classes (Kabul: 160 CBE + 40 ALC & Ghazni: 320 CBE + 80 ALC). Under Kabul:  Pagman (10 CBS+10 ALC), Sorubi (40 CBS + 10 ALC), Char Asiab (40 CBS + 10 ALC), Kak e Jabar (30 CBS + 10 ALC) Mosihee (40 CBE) & under Ghazni: Nawar (35 CBE + 10 ALC), Ajristan (50 CBE + 10 ALC), Nawa (40 CBE + 10 ALC), Gero (40 CBE + 10 ALC), Rashidan (40 CBE + 10 ALC), Waghaz (45 CBE ), Khoja Omari (40 CBE + 10 ALC), and Andar (30 CBE + 20 ALC) districts. b) distribute teaching and learning materials and hygiene kits directly to CBS/ALC; c) conduct quality teacher training for 600 (Kabul: 200 & Ghazni: 400) CBE teachers; d) conduct back to school campaign and ensure safe and inclusive education to boys and girls; d) strengthen the capacity of 1,800 (Kabul: 600 & Ghazni: 1,200) shura members and village leaders to promote participation of girls and boys in the CBE classes; and f) installation of handwashing facilities and provision of safe drinking water to the 600 CBS learning spaces.
